“I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”
— C.S. Lewis

The Trip (Part 1)
Bewildered when I heard people say, “Don’t Drink and Drive,” I thought, Mom could only drive if she drank. Anyway, that’s what she said. “My nerves . . . I can’t bear it . . . It’s the only way I can cope.”

A Defining Moment
Death casts its shadow over my life weeks after my ninth birthday, four days after Christmas. There is no way for me to look back at my life apart from what writers term “a defining moment.”

My Own Stories
Throughout the summer, I will share some of my own stories already written. Perhaps reading these “chapters” from an unfinished draft of a memoir, you too will think about and write some of your stories. The benefits of writing about your own lived story cannot be overstated or measured.

The Power of Story
If I were to ask you about your story, up to this point, what would you say your story is about?
Analyze any story. What’s any story about?

Notes to Self
Writing has helped me figure out what I think. I never appreciate what I actually feel about something or someone until I have wrapped words around ideas, stories, books, movies, or personal experiences.
